Historical Society of Greenfield, Massachusetts
Founded in 1907, the collections now include maps, paintings, tools, clothing, furniture, photographs, fossils, books, memorabilia & other artifacts about local and county history. We take as our guiding inspiration the words of our founder, author Mary P. Wells Smith:
"Today passes on and becomes history before we know it. We are making history all the time."
COVID response: During 2020-2021-2022, when the museum was closed to the public, we took the opportunity to make many improvements to both the building and the collections care within, while keeping our all-volunteer staff safe. One thing we could not change was the level of ventilation in the building, and thus, we do ask that guests wear masks.
